📦 Unboxing & First Impressions

Unpacking the kit was a delightful experience—the board is incredibly compact! Everything arrives in a simple plastic pouch, containing:

  • 🧠 XIAO ESP32S3

  • 📡 Wio-SX1262 LoRa extension board

  • 📶 Wi-Fi antenna

  • 📻 LoRa antenna

🛠️ Setup Tips & Insights

  • Antenna identification is crucial: The narrow antenna is designated for LoRa, while the broader one is for Wi-Fi. Take care when connecting them—U.FL connectors can be delicate.

  • Connection method for the board: Initially, it might seem that soldering is required, but that's not the case. The Wio-SX1262 securely attaches to the XIAO using a custom connector. Ensure to remove the protective tape underneath before connecting; this adhesive will keep it secure over time.

  • USB-C cable not included: Please ensure you have a Type-C cable that supports both data and power.

Once these components are ready, the setup process is straightforward.


🔥 Flashing Meshtastic Firmware onto the XIAO ESP32S3

Preparing your node for Meshtastic takes only a few minutes:

  1. Connect It: Link the XIAO to your PC using a USB-C cable capable of data transmission.

  2. Open the Flasher: Access the Meshtastic Flasher.

  3. Select Your Device: Choose “Seeed XIAO ESP32-S3” from the device list.

  4. Choose Firmware Version: Select a version (the latest stable release is recommended) and click Flash.

  5. Review and Proceed: Look through the changelog, then continue.

  6. Full Erase and Install: For optimal results, opt for Full Erase and Install, then click Update.

  7. All Set! Your node will restart, refreshed and ready for use.


📲 Pairing with the Meshtastic App

Connecting the device is equally effortless:

  • Download the App: Available on the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).

  • Locate Your Node: Go to the Bluetooth section and wait for your new node to show up. It will display a Node ID and other information.

  • Input the Pairing Code: Default is 123456—check the terminal log after flashing for a different code if applicable.

  • Select the Correct Region: Choose the relevant LoRa region (such as EU868, US915, etc.). The device will restart with your selected settings.

  • Shipping address should be input in English without any special symbols to help the courier company recognize your address in the system. We will ship according to the shipping address you provided. Please notify us of any address change before your order is marked "Shipped" to avoid parcel loss.

  • All items are inspected before dispatch and are carefully hand-packed.

3. International Warehouse

Our products are stored in both our U.S. and Shenzhen warehouses to provide more flexible logistics solutions tailored to different regions and customer needs. On each product's description page, we indicate the specific warehouse location to help you better plan your purchase and delivery schedule.

3.1 U.S. Warehouse

For products stored in our warehouse in the U.S., we use either USPS or UPS for shipping, depending on the size of the package. Logistics within U.S. are very efficient, with an estimated delivery time of 3-7 business days, ensuring you receive your order quickly and conveniently.  

3.2 Chinese Warehouse

We will only arrange YunExpressexpress shipping from Shenzhen for orders with products in the Shenzhen warehouse worth more than €50. Orders directly shipped from our Shenzhen warehouse are handled by YunExpress. Given the complexities of international shipping, the estimated delivery time for these packages is around 10 business days, though this may vary slightly due to customs processes or other uncontrollable factors. Otherwise, the products will first be shipped from China to our U.S. warehouse and then shipped to the final destination. 

To ensure that your order is delivered within your desired timeframe, we recommend reviewing the warehouse information provided on the product pages before placing your order and selecting the appropriate shipping option. 4. Customs and Taxes

4.1 How are customs handled by OpenELAB for import or export?

For shipments delivered to customers in the United States, OpenELAB will clearly declare the value of the goods on the customs form in compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) requirements. Depending on the product value and origin, certain orders may be subject to import duties, taxes, or brokerage fees upon arrival, which are the responsibility of the recipient unless otherwise stated.
 We aim to minimize delays and ensure compliance, but OpenELAB does not guarantee exemption from U.S. customs charges.
  

4.2 Are U.S. sales taxes included when the Customer places an order?

OpenELAB collects U.S. state sales tax where legally required. The applicable rate depends on the shipping address and will be calculated at checkout.
 If no sales tax is charged at the time of purchase, you may still be responsible for use tax according to your state’s tax laws. OpenELAB is committed to complying with the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in South Dakota v. Wayfair, Inc. and applicable local regulations.
  

4.3 Are there any other fees besides tax?

Apart from sales tax, OpenELAB may charge shipping or handling fees, which will be clearly displayed before checkout.
 Please note that international shipments to the U.S. may occasionally incur customs clearance charges or carrier-imposed fees (e.g., by DHL, FedEx, or USPS). These charges are not controlled by OpenELAB and may vary based on the delivery carrier and U.S. import classification.

1. Warranty Disclaimer

Unless explicitly stated in a specific agreement or purchase order, OpenELAB makes no warranties—express or implied—regarding the fitness, suitability, or merchantability of any product for a particular purpose or special use.

  

2. Warranty Policy

Warranty Period

The standard warranty period for products sold by OpenELAB is 12 months from the date of delivery.

Under this warranty, OpenELAB will make a reasonable effort to repair or replace products free of charge if defects are due to issues with raw materials, design, or manufacturing.

If the defect qualifies under this policy but falls outside the covered scope, reasonable charges may apply for repair or replacement.

After the warranty period, support may still be available at a reasonable fee.

  

Warranty Exclusions

The warranty does not apply in the following cases:

  • The product is beyond the 12-month warranty period.
  • Damage due to misuse, improper maintenance or storage, or failure to follow the user guide or manual.
  • Issues caused by Force Majeure events (e.g., natural disasters, war, legal changes, etc.).
  • Unauthorized repair attempts by the customer.
  • The product is not defective but has been opened and is non-returnable by policy.

   

3. Returns & Refunds

If you're not satisfied with your purchase, you may be eligible for a return or exchange:

  • Return for Refund: Within 15 days of receipt (unopened).
  • Return for Replacement: Within 30 days of receipt (damaged or defective).
  • Exchange Window: Up to 30 days from receipt.

Return Conditions

  • Items must be in original, clean, and mint condition with packaging intact.
  • Returns of damaged, used, scratched, modified, or programmed items will not be accepted.
  • Include the receipt, a brief note with your name, order number, and reason for return.

  

Shipping & Fees

  • Customers are responsible for return shipping to our warehouses in the US.
  • If a return is requested due to customer reasons (e.g., change of mind, incorrect order, etc.), both the original shipping cost and the return shipping cost will be deducted from the refund amount.
  • For returns due to customer reasons, we will generate and provide a return shipping label. 

   

Payment Platform Fees

For all refunds requested due to customer reasons, a standard service fee will be deducted from the refund amount, which is charged by the payment platforms. The specific fees are as follows:
